This past September Paris became the international capital of design, for 8 inspired days Paris Design Week drew more than 100 designers from around the world to exhibit their latest creations.

This year’s Paris Design Week was stronger than ever with the arrival of professionals and design lovers for the international fair Maison Objet Paris that took place at the same time. This mass influx turned the French capital into a melting pot of international design, an authentic village of creators.

Paris Design Week was a crucial moment for Parisian design. During one week more than 200 galleries, design schools, workshops, and design studios presented their best contemporary creations.

This 5th edition proposed a reflection on the theme “Precious”, participants examined how luxury design can enhance our personal lives, but also how design can be implemented to preserve the Earth’s precious natural resources.

Also, for the first time this year the event took place in other parts of the capital:

• District Saint-Germain
• District Marais, Bastille et Stalingrad
• District Champs-Elysées, Opéra
• Docks – Cité de la Mode et du Design

Design, fashion, art, gastronomy… for 8 days all facets of innovation were consumed by those who bring it to existence: publishers, art galleries, institutions, hotels, and restaurants.

The museums also celebrated – Centquatre, the City of Architecture, and the Museum of Natural History invited young designers to rework the scenography of their collections.

Paris Design Week coincided with Now le Off as well, an exhibition that reminds the world that young designers also have talent. Held this year at Les Docks: Cité de la Mode et du Design, over a hundred emerging designers came to be exposed to the Parisian scene, and hopefully write their first orders!

CovetED Magazine was distributed at Les Docks and Maison Objet Paris during the weeklong event, and was very appreciated by designers and the general public. We were proud to find our magazine at different points throughout the city, a very welcome surprise that exceeded our expectations.

We look forward to the next edition of this event as it is such a great opportunity to find out where design is evolving to.
